We are pleased to offer for sale a rare example of early Chinese porcelain from the Qing Dynasty. The vase is potted with a heavenly globe-shaped body that gently tapers to a columnar neck. The subtly and perfection of the shape is beautiful. Equally stunning is the rich lustrous glaze, with depth like a starless night, that covers the body. This style of Qing porcelain was a favorite of 18th century European collectors and dates to the middle/late Kangxi Period.
The vase comes to us from an old Oak Park, Illinois collection and is a large size at 14.7 inches tall and is in restored stable condition. Part of the neck has been restuck and there is an associated Kintsukuroi Japanese golden repair to the mouthrim.
