LARGE Chinese Antique Blue and White Porcelain Shou Bowl (Mizusashi)

  

A large blue and white bowl, decorated with bands of Shou characters and seated upon an unglazed circular foot ring. A bespoke Japanese lacquer lid fits the piece, suggesting that the bowl was admired and subsequently used as a water Jar (Mizusashi) within Japanese tea ceremony practices chanoyu.
