Superb vintage crackled catalin mahjong set with large chunky tiles and 16 flowers, housed in a carved camphor wood chest. Impressive set of 156 tiles, 152 for play and 4 spare blanks making the set more than suitable for NMJL mahjong. Tiles made from gorgeous butterscotch amber coloured apple juice catalin and measure a very chunky and very tactile 32.25mm x 24.5mm x 16.5mm. Tiles weigh approximately 2.542kg. Set comes with 3 little red dice, celluloid wind disc and unusual Chinese bakelite scoring sticks. Carved camphor wood chest not original to the set but a lovely period addition the tiles look like little bars of gold nestled inside a treasure chest! Chest in good vintage condition some distortion to the lid and a split to base board radiating from one nail. Tiles in lovely vintage condition with their desirable age related crazing.
