2 x Large Chinese Lacquer Meiping Vases Stands Dragons Pearl Silver Foochow 40cm

  
A pair of large, Meiping form Chinese Fuzhou lacquer vases and stands, early 20th Century. Condition: One vase has a chip to the rim which has been repaired/ glued and it has light vertical cracks in the lacquer: the other vase has an open vertical crack from top to bottom, but it is still sturdy. A leg of one stand has been repaired and also has a chip on the tip of a'branch'. The vases are a true'mirror' pair and are decorated with 5 toed silver dragons chasing the flaming pearl. Including the stand they measure approximately 40cm tall.

The vase without the stand measures 33cm x 8.5cm base diameter and at the widest they are approximately 14cm. The stands are of naturalistic form and measure 7cm from foot to base and 18cm to the tip of the'branches'. A leg of each vase slides out to enable access to the vase. Without stands, one vase weighs 324g and the other, slightly less, weighs 309g.
