A Chinese Porcelain Famille Rose Large Temple Jar Pair Kangxi Marked

  

The Temple Jar is so named as it was originally used to hold the ashes of loved ones in Buddhist Temples. Eventually this shape of vessel was made for rice, spices, herbs and salt. They are in the 18th century famille rose style and have a Kangxi reign mark.

This is a genuine pair with a left and right piece. The artwork faces opposite ways. As always, a pair triples the value of just one. Handpainted as you can tell by the relief of the colours in the light.
