A Large C18th Chinese Blue & White Happiness Marriage Ginger Jar. A large C18th Chinese blue and white ginger jar, decorated with stylized patterns and then Happiness wrote on three sides, maybe a marriage jar.

The Ginger jar is formed with it being baluster in shape. The jar is then decorated with the underglaze blue with stylized patterns of swirls, flower heads. At three places on the sides of the jar it has in deep blue, written in Chinese we believe it to be Happiness, so this maybe a marriage jar.

To the bottom of the jar it is plain with a thick glaze and an unglazed footrim. The jar dates to C18th, maybe even earlier. The condition of the jar is very good, there is a couple of feint hairlines and a small chip on the top rim. Overall very good ready to be displayed.
