Antique 19th century (possibly earlier) Chinese / Asian / Oriental hand carved rootwood smoking pipe. The bowl is formed from a large piece of rootwood which has been naively carved in the form of what appears to be poppy buds. There would probably have been a fitment on top of the bowl which is missing.

There are a few splits to the edge of the bowl. The stem is made from a rootwood branch with what appears to be a horn mouthpiece. There is some splitting on part of the stem which does not appear to be all the way through. An excellent collector's piece, with signs age and use relative to its impressive age. Dimensions - Stem and mouthpiece 64cm L / Bowl 14cm L / Total length 75cm L / Width of stem 4cm / Weight 460g. The items I sell are in a used antique or vintage condition. This means they may have related flaws or defects.
