The everted rim lip has cross hatch and dotted border design. The outside of the bowl is decorated in under-glaze cobalt blue with three equally spaced flower designs. The basin is of a thickly potted, simple thrown footed and lipped deep bowl shape, with everted rim.
It dates to the mid eighteenth century, circa 1760, during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong. (1736-95) in the Qing dynasty. The bowl is 11 inches (28 cm) diameter and 4 inches (10 cm) high, it weighs 1272 grammes unpacked. It is in good antique condition, has some fritting and manufacturing flaws including a small firing tear on the underside. There is a filled and disguised chip to the back of the rim at the twelve o'clock position.
This beautiful antique bowl or wash basin displays well. The modern stand, which is actually for a plate, can be included in the sale if it is wanted. This lovely antique Canton bowl is a very attractive item to add to a collection of antique blue and white hand painted Chinese 18th century export porcelain.
