Our Stock # 18.9915. This is a large antique calligraphic ink block. A Chinese, boxed soot ink printing stone, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Superb proportion, with delightful artistic appeal. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order.

Ideal for creating a large printed image. Substantial in the hand at a weight of 2.04kg (4.49 lb). Relief scene to the front fascia, accentuated in gold, green and red. Shows a gathering of figures beneath trees on a hillside. Gilt finished characters to the reverse over a fascinating pattern ground. Presented within a carry case with a charming time-worn appearance.
