Rare Chinese Export Telescoping Fan with Applied Faces Original Box Circa 1850. A rare Chinese export telescoping fan with applied faces, Qing Dynasty, circa 1850. The fan has a double paper leaf with painting on and applied figures. The figures are made from silk and the faces are also applied.
Then the whole fan is painted. The sticks are black and gold lacquer. These fans were produced in Canton and Macau for the European market in the 19th century. The painted reverse is indicative of Macau. The fan comes with it's original box with a retailer. The box is : 12.59" x 2.36" x 1.96 (32 x 6 x 5 cm).The guardstick length when the fan is fully extended is 20.86 (53 cm). In good condition, tear, see the pictures.
