LARGE CELADON 18TH CENTURY CHINESE CHARGER. We are pleased to offer you this fine, large Chinese Celadon 18th Century carger. Measures 11 1/4" in diameter and 2 3/4" high on the edge rim and it is out of a private collection.

It is of the period. This charger is in unusually fine condition, having no cracks, chips or repairs, with the normal roughness on the bottom, we think in the making. We have photographed it well for your determination.

As most people know, these pieces become more beautiful with age because of movements and distress in the woods, some having restoration. Spindle turnings will not be uniform and swell unevenly with age.

Wood tends to get stress fractures on support systems and where wide board construction is used. Eighty-five percent of 18th Century veneers have had some restoration during their life. Pine secondary woods might fracture, making overlays and veneers have the same fracture lines. Old finishes might alligator, fade, fish-eye or darken depending on where the pieces were placed. All of these are desired by a true collector and gives it personality.

Do not expect these early pieces to be like new. These pieces age gracefully just as we do, giving them unique personality. We do our best to describe and photograph all items thoroughly, but handle a quantity of pieces every day and might miss something. We know if they tick, run, move and are in tune with the quality of sound, but offer no guarantees on these items.
