Chinese 19th century Mandarin teapot of exceptional quality the teapot beatifully decorated in famille rose mandarin palette with ruyi shaped cartouches of scences of figures engaged in various activities and in terraced gardens which are enamelled with canopy and lotus ponds and turquoise coloured mythical beasts at the corners. Other cartouches within key fret borders also finely enameled with exotic birds and butterflies, peaches, peony and chrysanthemum. Between each cartouche, a gold ground embellished with green enameled plant tendrils , peony and butterflies and fruit. The high dome lid similarly decorated with cartouches with mandarins figures and two medallions ech containing an exotic bird, butterfly and peony and flying beetles near a rocky outcrop. The lid finial decorated in gold.
Approx height with lid 18cm or 7. Approx width from spout to handle 24cm or 9 1/2. A section of the handle has been restored.
It has been restored well so it still displays well and looks fantastic. Some small chips to the outer edge of the body , they can be painted in and it would look perfect.
