Very nicely decorated 18th century export charger depicting a large lotus plant with multiple flowers in various stages of development. Lotus is a well-known Buddhist symbol for purity and perfection arising from muddy waters. Depiction of its seed pods in Chinese art signifies a wish for many children.
Lotus in the central field is surrounded by eight smaller floral sprays around the outer rim. Excellent composition and well executed details all around.In good antique condition with only one small 2 cm hairline and two tiny chips around the rim as per photographs.
