Large and Impressive Chinese porcelain meat dish. Mid to late 18th century c1770. The heavily potted octagonal shaped dish is finely painted in rich, deep-toned underglaze blue. Crisply depicted is a riverscape scene complete with pagodas, willow trees and fisherman - resonant of the. Willow Pattern' design copied and much loved by English porcelain factories.

Towards the end of the 18th century and for the next hundred and fifty years. Equal attention has been devoted to decorating the border, densely painted with floral scrolls. Stylized flowerheads and panels of cell-diaper motif. One small stabilized hairline crack to the top rim - difficult to spot from the front.

Minor rim frits as usual. Very little wear in terms of knife marks/abrasion. The dish still rings well, and displays beautifully. Approximate sizes: Length 42cm (16.5) x. Weighing in at just over 2KG, it is a beautiful hefty beast, and rare in this size.
