A striking large vintage polychrome Chinese ginger jar and cover. Cobalt blue background with hand painted prunus and pomagranates. The lid being surmounted by a standing Foo Dog.

Stamped to the base, the stamp dates it to the Qianlong period which I feel is apocryphal and I would date it nearer to the mid 20th century. Presented in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks, some age related wear and a firing fault on the foo dog.
